Overview of the EBBOA Scholarship Program for Officials

Goal/Objective of the Program:
To continually improve the overall quality of officiating in the EBBOA

How:
By awarding EBBOA members with scholarships to attend basketball officiating summer camps for meeting the following established set of criteria.

Criteria:
To be eligible for an "EBBOA Officials Scholarship," applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

1.  Be an active member of the EBBOA.

2.  Remain a Member in Good Standing (MIGS) throughout the season.

3.  Attend all scheduled association meetings.  In the event that a member must miss a meeting, the member must provide the Assigning Secretary with a written note PRIOR to the meeting.  An official may have no more than two excused absences in any one season.  Just one unexcused absence will be cause for ineligibility.

4.  Complete and submit partner evaluations for all games worked throughout the
season as outlined in the partner evaluation program.

5.  Submit an application by the deadline.

6.  Other criteria to be determined by consensus of the Officials' Scholarship Committee on an on-going basis.

Scholarship Selection Committee:
The Officials' Scholarship Selection Committee will be comprised of seven (7) members.  All members must be active members of the EBBOA and Members in Good Standing.  The Committee members will be selected by the Board of Directors to serve a one-year term.  One (1) member will be the Assigning Secretary, three (3) members will be active Board members, and three (3) members will be non-Board members.  Committee members will NOT be eligible for a scholarship.  The Committee is responsible for determining qualification criteria, developing the application process and timeline, selecting award recipients, determining amount of scholarships, and selecting summer camps that qualify.

Funding & Awarding of Scholarships:
Funding for the scholarship program will come from missed meeting fees collected throughout the season.  The Officials' Scholarship Committee will determine on an annual basis how to award the scholarships based on the amount of funds available and the number of qualified applications received.
